A new month, another opportunity to walk with God.
I’ll be honest with you. Somewhere between the to-do lists, the deadlines, and the “what’s for dinner?” questions, I sometimes forget that each new month is a gift. October slipped in quietly, and part of me wanted to just keep running on autopilot.
But then I remembered something. A new month isn’t just a page turning on the calendar. It’s another opportunity to walk with God. Not perfectly or with everything figured out, just with Him.
So if you’re caring for your family, chasing a new opportunity, building a business, or standing in the middle of uncertainty, this is for you. I’m holding on to seven reminders this October, one for each letter of the month, and I’d love for you to carry them with me.
O: Obey His Word
Obedience isn’t always the loud, dramatic thing we imagine. Most days it’s small: forgiving when it’s hard, speaking kindly when you’re tired, telling the truth when a shortcut would be easier.
James 1:22 reminds us to be doers of the Word, not hearers only. This month, ask yourself, What is God already asking me to do that I’ve been putting off? Then take that step.
C: Choose Courage
Courage doesn’t mean you’re not afraid. It means you move forward with God even while your hands are shaking.
Maybe it’s launching the offer, having the honest conversation, or saying yes to something new. Joshua 1:9 tells us to be strong and courageous because the Lord our God is with us wherever we go. You are never stepping out alone.
T: Trust His Timing
This one is hard for me. I want answers now. But I’ve learned that God’s “not yet” is often protection, and His “wait” is often preparation.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says He makes everything beautiful in its time. If your prayer feels unanswered this October, it doesn’t mean He forgot you. It means He’s still working, and His timing is better than your deadline.
O: Offer Him Your Work
Whether your “work” is a boardroom, a laptop at the kitchen table, a classroom, or a pile of laundry, it matters to God when it’s offered to Him.
Colossians 3:23 says to work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. Before you start your day, try whispering this: “Lord, this is Yours. Use it however You want.” It changes how ordinary tasks feel.
B: Build on Christ
Anything built on shifting sand will eventually wobble: our goals, our reputations, even our best plans. Jesus said the wise builder puts his house on the rock (Matthew 7:24-25).
So build your home, your business, and your habits on Him. Let your decisions be shaped by His truth, not just by trends or pressure. When the storms come, and they will, what’s built on Christ will stand.
E: Encourage Someone
You don’t need a stage or a big platform to encourage someone. A simple message, a call, or a “Hey, I’m praying for you” can reach someone who’s quietly struggling.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 tells us to build one another up. Think of one person today and send the text. You may never know how much it meant.
R: Rest in His Care
Rest is not laziness. It’s trust.
Matthew 11:28 is an invitation: Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. You’re allowed to pause. You’re allowed to breathe. The world will not fall apart because you sat at Jesus’ feet for ten minutes. He’s carrying what you can’t.
Your Next Faithful Step
You don’t have to do all seven perfectly. Pick one that your heart needs most right now, and begin there.
Maybe this week is about obedience, or you need courage for a decision. Maybe you’re learning to trust His timing, or you’re simply tired and need to rest. Whatever it is, you can take the next faithful step with God, and that’s enough.
A Prayer for Your October
Lord, thank You for another month and another chance to walk with You. Help me obey Your Word, choose courage, and trust Your timing. I offer You my work, my home, and my plans. Build my life on Christ, give me someone to encourage, and teach me to rest in Your care. Amen.
Walk in Obedience. Live with Courage. Rest in His Care. 🍂
